Food Ladder
The organisation works with communities to determine their goals and needs – whether it be for their own consumption, to create employment, establish a social enterprise, use in student programs or school canteen lunches.
2022 Pitch
Funds Raised: $50,300
Lucy pitched to expand Food Ladder’s greenhouse system to other communities in need to be a positive catalyst for enabling school-age children to have a greater understanding of fresh produce, good nutrition, healthy eating and engaging cooking principles to ultimately improve their long-term wellbeing.
The Impact…
Through the TFN funding, Food Ladder established not one but two school greenhouse systems, creating a ripple effect of shared best practices and empowering communities to tackle food insecurity through year-round produce and self-sufficiency. Both schools involved in the program cater to students from remote or regional areas, lower socio-economic backgrounds, and high Indigenous populations. By targeting these specific demographics, they are addressing critical health and educational disparities and providing opportunities for a brighter future.
