Scarf transforms the lives of young people, by getting them into work while adding flavour and heart to the hospitality industry.

Scarf is a not-for-profit social enterprise that runs hospitality training, mentoring, and paid work experience programs for young people seeking protection, and those from refugee and migrant backgrounds. 2021 Pitch

Funds Raised: $43,800

Mir pitched at the June 1st Virtual Event to run two 'Skill up with Scarf' programs, each providing trainee opportunities for 12 young people with employment barriers. Mir himself has been through Scraf training and found employment in the hospitality industry, he is now working at Scarf as the Restaurant and Training Manager.

The Impact

In the last year, despite the disruption of lock downs, Scarf has been able to run their first, 'Skill Up with Scarf' program at Five Senses Coffee in Melbourne. This program has supported 8 young people experiencing barriers to employment to gain skills and connections in the hospitality work force and set them up for future employment. With this successful co-hort graduated, Scarf is now planning their next program, we will get back in touch to update you on the 2nd program that was funded through TFN.
