All Things Equal
Melbourne-based All Things Equal is a cafe with a difference, providing purposeful, paid employment for people with and without disability in a ‘mainstream’ work environment. Built on the belief that all people should be able to find a self-sustaining purpose in life, All Things Equal exists to bridge the gap between people with disability and the wider community.
2022 Pitch
Funds Raised: $45,000
All Things Equal pitched for funding to pilot a cooking school program in which participants can gain real-world healthy cooking skills in a supportive and inclusive environment.
The Impact…
A program coordinator was employed in March 2022 who rolled out the cooking school program. Since then 25 young people with disability have participated in the cooking school for a semester-long program. The impact has been incredible, with the cooking school enabling ATE to meet the demand for people wanting paid employment and allowed so many new trainees to gain their first foot in the door of hospitality. ATE are now in the process of developing the cooking school into a substantial part of a structured pre-employment program.
The funding was also used to purchase a variety of safety equipment and minor renovations to ensure the environment was accessible and equipped to support all trainees.
