The Nappy Collective
Research shows that 250,000 Australian children currently do not have access to the nappies they need to stay clean and healthy. The Nappy Collective provides a platform for the community to donate leftover nappies, reduce unnecessary waste and support families who need it most.
2019 Pitch
Funds raised: $30,500
It is hard to believe in Australia today there are families that do not have enough nappies for their babies. Pitching at at TFN Melbourne, The Nappy Collective aimed to raise funds to increase its impact and double the number of children it can support in 2020, providing more collection points and volunteers to collect and distribute.
The Impact
Lani Masuki, CEO of The Nappy Collective pitched a year-round collective project with 20 childcare centres in Melbourne to commence in early 2020.
Unfortunately, this plan was disrupted by COVID-19, but in the spirit of innovation The Nappy Collective responded with a crisis initiative called #1millionbums. This project addressed the issue of rising unemployment and increasing levels of family violence, leading to an even greater need to supply nappies to families in need. The organisation doubled its efforts and is well on the way to achieving an ambitious target to collect one million nappies.
