Word Travels has identified a need to build relationships with First Nations organisations in the areas where they run poetry slams. Miles pitched at TFN Virtual Live to hire an Indigenous education officer who will engage youth in communities across rural and regional Australia, increasing Indigenous participation in Word Travel's programs, workshops, performances and events.
The funding was used to hire a First Nations Engagement Officer which allowed Word Travels to develop new strategies for working with regional and remote Indigenous communities.
