As Australia’s most successful Indigenous school to work transition program, Ganbina empowers young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to achieve their full potential

Ganbina was established in 1997 by a group of local business leaders to help young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Youth in the Greater Shepparton community access jobs. The JOBS4U2 Program suite has since expanded to include support of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and youth aged 5 – 25 in their active engagement in education, training and employment with a view to successfully transition from school to long term meaningful employment.

2021 Pitch

Funds Raised: $58,100

General Manager Larissa Falla pitched at TFN Virtual Live for funding to further develop Ganbina’s Accelerated Learning Program, which assists participants in Years 3 – 6 to develop their literacy and numeracy skills in a culturally sound learning environment.

The Impact…

Ganbina has been busy in the last year, with 30 students registered for the Accelerated Learning Program. They are learning core subjects such as English and Maths, delivered in a comfortable, inclusive environment, with the student tutor ratio kept to a minimum. Cultural elements and life skills are woven into the lesson plans to ensure the students see the practical benefits of learning. A key theme in the feedback received from families was the personal growth and development of their child’s confidence.
