Autism Swim
Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) are 160 times more likely to drown than their peers. Autism Swim is a multi-disciplinary and award-winning international charity, mitigating the risks associated with wandering and drowning for those with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD); and in turn, lowering the alarming and underreported statistics.
2020 Pitch
Funds Raised: $74,592
Erika pitched at TFN Virtual Live to develop a water safety game app, which will be available for free to those with other abilities all over the world, allowing them to learn vital water safety through their device.
The Impact…
Unfortunately, COVID-19 has slowed the progress in the development of the Surfing Certification, and the enhancement of the Water Safety App. However, the Autism Swim team is working hard to bring these two projects to life - so watch this space! The good news is that it has kicked off its Dippers program with a new location in Port Macquarie. So far, the program has been a great success and given participants the confidence to enjoy water safely. As you can see from the photos below, it looks like they are having a lot of fun too!
