Nairm Marr Djambana
The Nairm Marr Djambana Board is working to enhance self-determination to ensure the local First Nations community can meet their social, cultural and economic needs. It has developed an early stage social enterprise catering business to enhance organisational sustainability. Based on a sound Theory of Change, Djambana Catering aims to support the Gathering Place to achieve improved social, economic and cultural outcomes for community members. The intention is for the catering service to generate sufficient funds to create a sustainable business arm to cover costs and help fund education, health and wellbeing programs in response to the needs of First Nations community members.
2023 Pitch
Funds Raised: $23,100
Jarrod pitched for funds to help develop the Indigenous catering section of Djambana, by employing two part time kitchen hands for the next 6 months.
The Impact…
This TFN funds were used to finance the part-time entry-level employment of three Aboriginal trainee kitchen-hands.
There is demonstrable evidence to show that the employment and training opportunities that have been provided have strengthened their self-esteem, kitchen and workplace skills, and work ethic. Each one now shows initiative and requires less hands-on supervision.
