The Man Cave
Research shows that suicide is the leading cause of death for Australian men aged 15-44. At the same time, many men report feeling socially disconnected and that they lack secure relationships outside of their immediate families. The organisation also develops and runs programs for other key influences on boys’ lives including parents, teachers and older male role models.
2019 Pitch
Funds raised: $92,700
Traditionally, men have been taught that emotions are a sign of weakness. They’ve learned to bury their feelings and deny their fears. Unfortunately, that old narrative is still around today, and is holding young men back from reaching out for support when they need it most. At TFN Live Sydney, The Man Cave pitched for funds to train facilitators to run school-based workshops in New South Wales on the importance of positive mental health, respectful relationships, authentic story-sharing, vulnerability and connection.
The impact…
Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, in the interests of supporting our alumni during program delays, the impact report for this project will be postponed until the end of the year.
