Green Connect actively employs refugees and at-risk youth, enabling them to put their ideas and talents to use in the community.
2016 Pitch
Funds raised: $25,560
Green Connect pitched at The Funding Network in Sydney on 20 June 2016 and raised $25,560 to develop its HR and support systems and offer better, more consistent and responsive support to the former refugees and young people it employs - people like Tuang Pu.
The impact...
During his three years with Green Connect, the determined, kind, and always helpful Tuang Pu completed his HSC while growing his sense of confidence and purpose, employability, financial independence and connection to community. We were sad to say goodbye to him as a workmate, but thrilled about the reasons why he was leaving: having secured a traineeship with Wollongong Council in parks and civil works!
With the new facility also measuring the impact of GC's work and laying the foundation for impact investment and growth, the enterprise has the confidence to expand and looks forward to serving an even greater number of people living in the community.
In 2016, Green Connect and friends filmed the autumn farm blitz, a reminder to all that community is at the heart of everything.
