Raise Foundation
Raise Foundation provides school and community-based mentoring programs for vulnerable young Australians facing profound challenges in their lives. BUMP is a program for young pregnant and parenting girls (aged 13-23). Through 30 weekly sessions, conducted by a more experienced mother, the participants are equipped to flourish as individuals and as empowered mothers.
2015 Pitch
Funds raised: $31,303
Raise pitched 'Re-engagement with Education' - a crucial part of the BUMP program - at The Funding Network Sydney on 21 October 2015 and raised $31,303. This funding has enabled Raise Foundation to secure accreditation from TAFE and deliver course content to 79 young mums - helping the girls flourish socially, emotionally and educationally, both at the heart of their growing families and as contributing members of the community.
The impact...
Julie, 16 years old and mother to a bouncing bub, often spent her days at home feeling isolated and judged for being a 'teen Mum'. She dropped out of school in Year 11 when she was pregnant, her plans to finish her HSC interrupted by the everyday realities of life as a single parent. Julie embraced the BUMP program through Raise Foundation and found herself fully supported, not judged, by her (volunteer) mentor: she has now completed the TAFE Certificate I in Access to Work and Training through BUMP and has plans to add to this by enrolling in the 'Bump Up' program in 2017.
Funding from TFN has paid for Raise Foundation to secure accreditation from TAFE and deliver course content to 79 young mums - helping the girls flourish socially, emotionally and educationally, both at the heart of their growing families and as contributing members of the community.
Here to say thanks to everyone who supported their re-engagement with education and TAFE accreditation are the BUMP Young Mums themselves....
